Please welcome two new teachers to the Stone Turtle Yoga teaching crew this winter!
Mona Lisa and Darryl Rosencrants, certified yoga instructors, are living in Higgins Lake this winter upon returning from their almost 2-year long trip to South and Central America. They will be taking over 3 Higgins Lake classes for the time being:
Monday 10:30am Hatha Yoga
Tuesday 10:00am Core Yoga
Friday 10:30am Hatha Yoga
These changes will go into effect immediately. A big thank you to Mona and Darryl for offering to share their gifts with our yoga community! Here are their bios:
Mona Lisa
Mona Lisa initially began practicing yoga in 2011 to compliment the rehabilitation of a severe knee injury that occurred while playing on a semi-professional football team. After practicing consistently for two years and reaping the benefits that accompany a steady practice, she began exploring the possibility of becoming an instructor while maintaining her duties as a U.S. Marine. During her last month as an active duty service member, she attended a 200hr service-based immersion teacher training in May 2015 with Wilmington Yoga Center in North Carolina.
She spent seven months teaching and learning from mentors before beginning a journey through Central and South America for 20 months. Immediately before returning to the U.S., she attended an additional 200hr Integrative yoga teacher training with Kashmir Shivaism School of Yoga in August 2017 hosted by Pure in Managua, Nicaragua.
Mona has extensive training and experience with trauma and has worked with victims of sexual assault and domestic violence within the military and civilian sectors. She enjoys facilitating any style of yoga that has a positive impact on students that choose to share space with her. Her teaching style is based in alignment, light-heartedness, play, and compassion while encouraging students to challenge their bodies and minds to find new limits. She believes that she is a student first and can learn valuable life lessons from anyone in any environment. She is passionate about yoga and the endless benefits available to all that practice.
She has also attended a 6 hour inversion workshop with Jessica Bichler, 6-hour alignment workshop with Doug Swenson, an 18-hour workshop on Restorative teacher training workshop with Noelle Cavenaugh and a 4-day Acroyoga immersion with Justin Caruso and Arianne Traverso.
Darryl Rosencrants
Darryl Rosencrants has been practicing yoga for approximately three years and has recently graduated from the Kashmir Shaivism School of Yoga (KSSOY) 200hr Teacher Training Course hosted in Granada, Nicaragua. He has been traveling through Central and South America for the past 22 months enjoying the experiences of interacting with others and exploring new places and things. Darryl is a fun and compassionate person who loves to share yoga on and off the mat. He has an appreciation for proper alignment and likes to challenge students to reach beyond their current edges. Prior to finding a love for yoga, Darryl served in the U.S. military for 20 years which also afforded him the opportunity to connect with countless good natured human beings.
Darryl K. Rosencrants is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a yoga teacher training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS).
