STY moves to Gerrish Township Hall plus Fall Class Schedule

Happy Thursday, yogis!

As most of you know, this is our last week practicing in the Stone Turtle Day Lodge at Cross Country Ski Headquarters. We have to start getting that space ready for ski season, if you can believe it! It’s a bittersweet ordeal  leaving the lovely lodge setting, but the great news is that classes will continue throughout fall and winter.

We’re moving STY to Gerrish Township Hall. It’s less than a mile down the street (south), so the move won’t hinder anyone’s “commute” to and from yoga. Gerrish Township Hall is located at 2997 East Higgins Lake Drive. It’s a nice, open room with lots of open wall space, which will be nice. We’ll continue to offer free use of our mats, blocks, straps and blankets.

Now, for the schedule! We’ll still have tomorrow’s Yoga Hike and Saturday’s Empower 90 minutes (at 8:00am!) this week at the Stone Turtle Day Lodge; the new schedule and location kick in next week. Click here  or copy/paste this link to see the schedule for fall: https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/ASP/home.asp?studioid=29064 (make sure to click over to next week). I gathered as much feedback as a I could to make an accommodating schedule, but please let me know if none of these options look like they’ll work for you. A couple notes:

1. The Core and Empower classes will switch spots every other week. For example, next week there is a Core Yoga class at 6am on Tuesday, and an Empower class on Thursday at 6pm. The week following week, those two classes will switch spots; Empower on Tuesday at 6am, Core on Thursday at 6pm. And so on, and so on. I will try to get my scheduling software to automatically swap these classes, but in case that function isn’t available, just be aware that this is the plan! I’ll post regularly on the blog and facebook to keep everyone up to date as well.

2. Starting next week, Yoga Hike will go for 1 hour and will be entirely outside. We’ll meet in the Cross Country Ski Headquarters parking lot.

3. Due to the schedule cutting back a little as my cross country ski life picks up speed, we’ve reduced the monthly unlimited membership price from $70 down to $60.

4. We’ll still be selling yoga mats and clothing, but I won’t be bringing them to every class at Gerrish :(. Just let me know if there’s any clothing you want, or visit Cross Country Ski Headquarters to shop for it there!

Thanks to all of you for your continued dedication to your yoga practice as we make this transition. Let me know if you have any questions! Hope to see you soon.

Joel Kramer article and this week’s schedule

Happy Monday, friends!

During Saturday’s 90 minute Empower class, I shared some insight from Joel Kramer about maintaining long-term interest in yoga (and life!) by engaging in the yogic process, and not attaching to results or trying to “achieve” the postures. I wanted to share the article I referenced with you. Click here, or copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.joeldiana.com/downloads/writings/YogaAsSelfTransformation.pdf. You’ll need Acrobat or some other PDF reader. It’s a relatively quick read, and it’s very thought-provoking and well written. It’s pretty accessible and doesn’t use too much intense yoga jargon, though some of the pictures of him doing yoga are pretty funny ;). Anyway, I hope you enjoy it. I’d recommend printing it out, making a cup of tea, and settling onto the couch to read it one of these rainy afternoons. Would love to hear what you think!
This week’s schedule is the same as last week, except no 90 minute Empower class on Saturday.
Have an awesome week! Namaste.

This Week’s Schedule

Good Day!

This week’s yoga schedule will be mostly back to normal, with the only change being the Thursday Gentle Yoga class moving to Wednesday, just like last week. Check here for the full schedule: https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/ASP/adm/home.asp?studioid=29064

Hard to believe it’s already August! Yoga helps us stay in the present so that we can savor every last minute of summer. We all know how badly we miss these long, sunny days in the wintertime (especially if we aren’t doing fun things like cross country skiing! hehe), so take a moment (at least) every day to be thankful for the warmth, the sun, and the lush abundance of summer.

Have a great week, hope to see you! Namaste, friends.
