Thanksgiving Week + Zoom Instructions Refresher

Greetings, dear friends!

Integrative Yoga on Thursday morning with Patty is cancelled this week in light of the Thanksgiving holiday. Please join us every other day this week for virtual yoga classes with our crew of stellar teachers!

How do I take a virtual yoga class at Stone Turtle Yoga?

Here is a refresher checklist of how to take one of our virtual classes. You must sign up at in advance for all virtual classes by following these instructions.

  1. Log into our online scheduling platform (called Mindbody), by clicking here. You can also find the link on our homepage by clicking the Class Schedule tab, or the Class Schedule link on the right sidebar. *Tip: bookmark this link in your browser for easy access!
  2. If you are a new student at Stone Turtle Yoga, enter your email address into “Create an Account” and follow the prompts.
  3. If you have attended a Stone Turtle class before, Click “Sign In” in the upper right hand corner of the screen. A.) If you have accessed your Mindbody account in the past and remember your password, log in and continue to the next step. B.) If you are a current student but have never accessed your MindBody account before, or if you have forgotten your password, click “Need New Password.” Follow the prompts to set up a password and access your account.
  4. Click on the class schedule, and sign up for the class you want to attend by clicking “Sign Up Now”. Follow the prompts to complete the purchase (there is a special $10 drop in for online classes).
  5. Once you complete the purchase, a confirmation email will be automatically sent to you. This email contains the Zoom link to attend the Zoom virtual class.

In-Person Classes Canceled Until December 9th + Tips for Home Practice

Dear Friends,

Due to the most recent directive by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, all in-person yoga classes will be canceled until December 9th, effective immediately.

The good news is that we will continue forward with all of our classes virtually, via Zoom! This is a great way to keep your practice going – more important now than ever – and maintain a sense of community with your fellow yoga students. It also is a much appreciated way to support our beloved crew of teachers during these challenging times. <3

Once you sign up for a virtual class, a Zoom link to join the class will automatically be emailed to you.

Tips for a successful home yoga practice:

Setting the mood makes all the difference!

-Set the mood. Candles, incense, dim lighting, a quiet, warm space… all of these mood settings contribute to a much elevated home yoga experience.
-Prop yourself. Treat yourself to a blanket, some blocks (or thick books), a bolster or couch cushion, and a strap or a belt to have on hand. Props are a great way to support your body, and your practice.
-Pick a playlist. You can play music during class, either on the same device as you’re streaming class with, or on a different one. Soft music for the slower classes, and more upbeat tunes for the more movement based practices are a good way to go!
-Show up early and stay late! Feel free to “arrive” to your home practice early, take some deep breaths, play some soft music, and sit or lay down in quiet meditation. You could even do some journaling before or after class. And because you’re at home, you can always stay in Savasana as long as you like!

We are happy to announce two new virtual classes going live this week: Laurie’s Monday evening Core Yoga class, and her Tuesday morning Hatha class. Now our entire class schedule is available in-person OR online via Zoom!
