Michelle’s Journey with Kava

I’ve had an appreciation for the uniqueness of kava for over two decades as a wise woman herbalist, but it was not until 2015 that the full transformative and healing powers of kava entered my life while I was living on the Big Island of Hawaii. There I found myself immersed in the sacred and ancient Hawaiian culture, searching for new experiences and looking to find something meaningful and real.

I first experienced the magic of kava at the humble and beautiful La Hiki Ola Kava Bar in Pahoa, Hawaii. Each time I lifted the coconut shell to my lips, the slightly bitter, earthy aroma of the root elixir filled my senses, and waves of energetic warmth washed over me as I sipped the powerful herbal tea. I felt relaxed, comfortable, and balanced, yet energetic and slightly euphoric at the same time. I experienced deep muscle relaxation and a profound sense of inner peace. At that moment, I knew this was powerful but gentle adaptive medicine from a rich and ancient Polynesian
culture. I was honored to be there.

I immersed myself in learning everything I could about this special healing root that Hawaiians call Awa (pronounced Ava). Many Hawaiians happily share their medicine, and I was blessed to connect with them. They passed on their tradition of the sacred, offering ceremonies as well as the process of brewing and preparing the powerful
tea.

This month’s practice will also include an optional essential oil offering to aid in relaxation. We hope you’ll join us!

About Yoga Nidra and Cacao

Yoga Nidra is a Yoga practice that provides you with the equivalent of 3 hours of deep sleep during a 45 minute guided meditation. This deep ‘Yogic Sleep’ allows your cells in your mind and body to repair and rejuvenate, and greatly reduces stress. Your mind will be guided into a deep mediation, allowing you to experience the benefits of mediation and the Theta Brain Wave. The initial 45 minutes of class will consist of a shamanic aura cleansing, sacred cacao ceremony and spiritual teaching and sharing. We will then prepare our body with yogic breathing exercising with some optional stretches. Then we are ready for the profoundly deep yogic sleep, a 45 minute Guided Yoga Nidra Meditation.

Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Click here to sign up!

During the Yoga Nidra portion of class the lights will be dimmed and we will be lying on our backs. Please come in comfy clothes, bring a yoga mat, an open heart, and any props that will help you position your body to relax. Mats, blankets, blocks and bolsters are available to borrow, free of charge.
