Lexi’s Farewell and Going Away Party!

As many of you know, our dearest Lexi will be leaving northern Michigan soon to embark on an adventure in Detroit.  Lexi has contributed her heart, soul, and her beautiful energy to our yoga community in a way that will never be matched nor forgotten, and we are endlessly grateful for the many gifts she has shared with Stone Turtle Yoga over the last four years. While we will miss her dearly, we are excited for the path that lies ahead, which will no doubt continue to be bright and full of heart. She will always have a home at Stone Turtle when she is in northern Michigan, so don’t be surprised if you see her pop up on the class schedule from time to time!
Effective this week, Patty Clark, the newest member of the STY teaching crew and a wonderful, experienced teacher, will be taking over the Thursday and Friday classes in Higgins Lake, as well as Empower Yoga in Grayling on Fridays at 9:00am. Empower Yoga on Saturdays in Higgins Lake will be taught by Lexi for the rest of March, and will continue under Patty’s instruction come April. Thank you all in advance for your positive energy and support during this time of transition!
Following is a note from Lexi, to you. Please continue on to the details for her Going Away Party at the bottom of the page. My heart overflows with love and gratitude for her, and for each of you. -Mariah
Dearest Yogis,
Well, the time has finally come…
As most of you know, for years now I have talked about a potential move to Detroit. This month it will become reality. Although this message and change feels abrupt, I assure you that this decision was not an impulsive one (quite possibly the first time I’ve ever used that sentence).
The Detroit seed was born in my tenth year of living in California on Sunday night, October 28, 2012 in the rioting streets of San Francisco when their Giants annihilated the Detroit Tigers in the World Series.
That night I knew two things – California was not home, Michigan was; and that I was going to move to Detroit, but first make a pitstop in my hometown of Grayling for an unknown amount of time. All I knew was that I wanted to play music and teach yoga for a while. Four years went by and, mission accomplished. And as per usual in my life, I am elated and proud to look upon fulfilled intuitions and intentions and move into future dreams. What is different this time is how difficult it is to leave. My gypsy past allowed me to move hardheaded from one place to another without looking back or processing transition. This time, not the case. I feel it all very well.
It is you, the Stone Turtle Yoga family, who has helped me open to this deeper sense of experiencing and knowing change; a hard layer has been melted. I am amazed by the community we have started. Your dedication, curiosity and courage is extremely inspiring and I am humbled by each and every one of you. You’ve made me realize why I teach yoga and have helped me to grow in countless ways. I can’t thank you enough!
Also a huge thank you to Mariah! Thank you for taking a chance on me, for your guidance and support to help me better serve our students, for your true friendship and endless support. You’re a beacon of light and such a strong leader.
We have built a space for authentic self-discovery and tenderness and I am confident that it will continue to grow. I feel much joy when I think of our continued paths and the treasures we will find along the way. I’m beyond grateful for our times together and I look forward to sharing more!
You all have my heart.
-Lexi

In this workshop, which meets on the first or second Wednesday of each month, we will delve into our profoundly powerful sense of scent, and use it to tap into a deep level of balance and well-being during our yoga practice. Each month’s yoga practice and essential oils are different, and are based on what we need to bring balance into our lives for the time of year.

March Theme: Alignment

Balance Body, Mind and Spirit. Featuring Frankincense, Cypress, Grapefruit, and more.

The workshop begines with an introduction of the oils we will use throughout the class, as well as their unique properies and benefits. Then, Mariah will lead a rejuvenating and relaxing yoga class, which is specifically created to coincide with the oils. These top-grade essential oils are applied aromatically, and topically throughout class by essential oil specialist, Nicole Mygrants. This class is inspired by the season, so it involves different oils and asanas each month. Each class is designed to leave students feeling regenerated, empowered, and balanced. This 90 minute workshop is open to all levels!
